  10. --- ZOOL ECS Hard Disk Installer ---

  12. This installer requires the Zool ORIGINAL disks (there are 2).
  13. It will not work for cracked versions.
  14.  
  15. Three versions are now supported: the original release, golden awards release,
  16. and another release thanks to both users who reported there existed other versions
  17. and sent me their disk 1.
  18.  
  19. The HD-Patched game will need about 3Mb of memory.
  20. It should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs (up to '060).
  21. Report me any bugs you'll find.

  23. I created and tested this package with a A1200/060/50 16Mb, so there should
  24. be no problems for all 680x0 CPUs (caches,chipset...). It degrades display properly
  25. so Multiscan/AGA users won't have any sprite or screen problem.
  26. I tried to preserve KS1.3 compatibility too
  27. (not guaranteed with higher processors than 68000)
  28. The game was also patched for A3000/A4000 users and a tooltype/argument allows
  29. you to force the game to run in PAL or NTSC (Kick2.0 only).

  32. The (original) cheat mode can be activated by typing 'GOLDFISH' in the main menu.
  33. During the game, press:
  34.  
  35. 1 for invincibility (temporary)
  36. 2 for levelskip
  37. 3 for worldskip
  38. 4 for suicide
  39.  
  40. F10 quits the game. No more quit problems.
  41.  
  42. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
  43. normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (anti DMS protection), and
  44. it does not easily multitask. No checks are done to see if you swapped the disks
  45. or not.
  46. If you don't insert disks when prompted, the program will lock the amiga until
  47. you decide to put a disk in.

  49. Version 1.0 crashed on some machines and did not allow to go NTSC (I had a e-mail
  50. from Mexico about a NTSC version of Zool). Now this is fixed.
  51.  
  52. Version 1.1 had more startup bugs. I hope this is fixed. A quit option exists now too (F10).

  54. Version 1.2 theorically supported 2 versions of zool but it crashed.
  55.  
  56. Version 1.2a supported 2 versions and had a better quit option
  57.  
  58. Version 1.2b (current): 3 versions supported, better HD code, NOCACHES option added.

  60. Still to do: a better quit patch (memory management)

  64. configuration).
  65. I'm also looking for people who could send me original disks for me to patch them
  66. for 680x0 or write HD-Installers (NOT CRACKED VERSIONS, ONLY ORIGINALS).

  72. This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
  73. if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.

  75. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
  76. of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
  77. It's the only exception for the distribution.
